Tim’s answer with AWS issues

Home » Private info » Tim’s answer with AWS issues
My name is Tim Zook, I am the lead developer for MyBookTable and I should be able to answer any questions you have about the technical workings of the plugin.
AWS has relatively recently tightened the restrictions they have about rate limiting, the MyBookTable plugin is equipped to properly rate limit the requests submitted to AWS in the way that they want, but you will want to be sure that you are using the most recent version of your MyBookTable Upgrade plugin to be sure this is being done properly. Unless I am mistaken you own the MyBookTable Pro Upgrade 3.0 plugin, which means you should be using 3.1.5 of the Profession Upgrade plugin. The easiest way to check which versions you are using is by clicking on the MyBookTable entry on your WordPress admin menu to open up the MyBookTable dashboard, and scroll down until you see the “Current Version” box, as indicated in the screenshot attached to this email.
If you are sure that you are using 3.1.5 and you continue to see this rate limiting error, it may be because there is a problem with your Amazon Affiliates account. Amazon uses automated systems to detect accounts they they believe are engaging in “spammy” behavior, and we have had reports of legitimate accounts getting marked as spammers, which can cause these rate limiting errors to occur when Amazon blocks the account. There is unfortunately not much more we can do to help at that point however, as the only recourse is to contact Amazon to see why your account is returning rate limiting errors even though the plugin is properly rate limiting the requests that it generates.
Please let me know if you have any further questions about MyBookTable I can help you with, and have a great day!
~Tim
